FGF2 DISCs
DISC™ devices give scientists enhanced control over growth factor levels in their cultures. Adding one DISC™ provides a stable level of native growth factors over 1-2 weeks. DISCs™ reduce your cell culture costs and provide robust, high-quality cells.

FGF2 DISCs are biocompatible hydrogels that release defined levels of native FGF2 stably into culture medium over the course of one week. Native FGF2 has a short half-life (4 hours) and rapidly decays in cell culture. Adding soluble FGF2 in culture through daily commercial media feeds creates fluctuations of growth factors that affect cellular pathways and create a stressful cellular environment. With FGF2 DISCs, FGF2 levels are stable over one week, allowing the following:
- Reduced feeding schedule and improved pluripotency across multiple PSC media
- Dampened heterogeneity between cell lines
- Improved directed differentiation efficiency into endoderm, mesoderm, and ectoderm lineages
- Compatibility with different media
DISC device technology allows you to use your favorite media, and feed less often. One DISC can be added per passage and can remain in the culture vessel for several media feeds (i.e., a pack of 48 DISCs will last 2 months when culturing in a 6 well plate). When placed in 2 mL of medium, an FGF2 DISC releases at a constant 10 ng/mL. This technology gives scientists enhanced control over growth factor levels in their cultures to provide robust, high-quality cells.
