Application Area:

Analyze the activity of Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase activity in blood samples

The BIOSENSOR G6PD analyzer from Standard Diagnostic is a simple point of care analyzer for testing the activity of Glucose 6 phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) in human blood. The machine reads the analyte from the indigenous G6PD test device and generates and displays accurate, reproducible results in less than 5 minutes with RS232 connection to the LIS, or an optional thermal printer. Has exhibited consistent results from positive & negative quality control samples with high precision and minimum CV. With simple easy operation, the maintenance-free except for the replacement of AAA battery for power, and comes with optional. The cost per test is minimal compared to the high returns from insurance reimbursement. So the equipment is very cost-efficient. G6PD has been historically used for evaluating anemia, and the effects of antimalarial QUINOLINE drugs. With the advent of COVID19 and its variant, the use of these Hydroxyquinoline drugs has increased and it is recommended that all COVID-19 suspected cases should be tested for the G6PD test. This makes this analyzer a very handy addition to labs and ER

Description:
Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PDH) is a cytosolic enzyme in the pentose phosphate pathway, a metabolic pathway that supplies reducing energy to cells (such as erythrocytes) by maintaining the level of the co-enzyme nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH). The NADPH in turn maintains the level of glutathione in these cells that helps protect the red blood cells against oxidative damage. Of greater quantitative importance is the production of NADPH for tissues actively engaged in biosynthesis of fatty acids and/or isoprenoids, such as the liver, mammary glands, adipose tissue, and the adrenal glands. BioVision's glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase Assay Kit is a simple, sensitive and rapid assay detects the activity of G6PDH in a variety of samples. In the assay, glucose-6-phosphate is oxidized with the generation of a product which is utilized to convert a nearly colorless probe to an intensely colored product with an absorbance at 450nm. The G6PDH Assay Kit can detect as low as 0.04mU G6PDH per well.
