Leak Detection on X-Ray Housing Assemblies
In our facility, we utilize two HLD Helium Leak Detectors daily and are a vital asset to our business scope. We have a dedicated department that performs leak detection analyses on 100% of our X-Ray Housing assemblies. This new equipment has replaced an older generation of Agilent Leak Detectors which have proved to show improved accuracy, cycle time, and overall effectiveness. In addition, we have consistently received superb support from the Account Management / Field Technicians from Agilent. In some instances, they assisted our team by temporarily lending equipment to avoid "line-down" situations.

The Agilent HLD MD15 Dry Leak Detector uses a mass spectrometer tuned to detect helium, which is used as a tracer gas to locate and/or measure very small leaks in enclosed devices or systems. The mobile HLD MD15 is both a precise instrument and a robust workhorse, featuring an easy-to-use touch screen interface and menu structure that quickly connect users to powerful leak detection capabilities. Built-in application setups shorten test cycles, and setups can be saved to assure repeatability. Integrated wheels enable easy relocation.
The MD15 Includes an oil-free quiet Agilent IDP-15 Dry Scroll Pump (pumping speed: 15 m3/hr) for fast evacuation of test parts and systems and rapid cleanup of ambient helium between test cycles.
Features:
- Six different application setup guides help you correctly configure your instrument for the best performance, ensuring that parameters are properly set for a thorough and efficient test
- Large, durable, responsive, industrial touch screen rotates 180° for ideal viewing
- Clean, intuitive user interface allows immediate access to often-used features and a flat menu structure allows you to quickly find the setting you need
- Startup wizard simplifies set up on first-time power-up
- Enhanced charting capabilities include zoom for closer inspection of data, color-coded set points, and time-based plot records of leak rate and pressure
- A large work surface provides plenty of room for parts to be tested, tools, etc.
- Improved power-off process keeps spectrometer under vacuum and protects the turbomolecular pump
- Improved maneuverability for easier access to narrow service areas and chases in semiconductor fabs or other production environments
- Dry vacuum pump eliminates the risk of oil contamination of test parts and systems
