Osteoprotegerin EIA
Osteoprotegerin (OPG) EIA is an enzyme immunoassay intended for the quantitative determination of OPG in plasma, serum or cell culture supernatants. OPG is a dimeric glycoprotein of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) receptor family that acts as a soluble receptor for sRANKL (soluble receptor-activated NF-kB ligand) and prevents it from binding to and activating RANK, thus inhibiting osteoclast development. Possible indications for OPG include the study of bone metabolism, osteoporosis, arthritis and oncology. Some recent emphasis has also been placed on the potential role of OPG and sRANKL in vascular calcification.
