A little pricey, but worth it!
Cell culture
I ordered 5 of these in different colors, so I could color-code which one went to which biosafety cabinet. Excellent for that. I've used these before in other labs. They hold a charge really well, and are fairly rugged. My lab was not happy about the gravity expelling feature as they were used to very weak pipettes, but once it was explained they haven't had any issues. I really like the status lights and how adjustable they are. I did find less expensive pipettes, but these were definitely the best overall.

Awesome tool we use everyday!
Cell culture, experiments, buffer and solution preparation
We use PIPETBOYs for every application that calls for volumes larger 1mL in the lab and have used them for years. They are easy to use, easy to charge, and it is very easy to change the filter if there is any contamination that occurs. We also love that they come in fun colors so it is easy to keep track of our favorites. The only issue that we have is that over time their top speed slows down and the rechargeable batteries eventually will no longer hold a charge but that is standard wear and tear. We have also participated in Integra's PIPETBOY exchanges program in the past and have to replace the PIPETBOYs that no longer function at their optimal level for a fraction of the regular cost. Highly recommend this product!

Difficult for small volumes

It's a good pipet but every unit we purchased needed repair within a year. They also don't have different speeds so when you are handling the last ml or aliquoting, it can become sloppy.

Tissue culture applications
The PIPETBOY acu 2 is a staple for a tissue culture room. Provide a good fit with standard serological pipettes and is extremely easy to use. The speed regulation is essential as the electronic control is not as precise as competitors. If you need to pipette media just use it on the max speed, if you need to mix cell suspensions or need fine control, set it on the lowest. Bonus, for aliquoting a lot there is a power mode if used while connected to the outlet, very useful with high capacity serological pipettes (50-100ml).
