Well worth the money
Stable nitrogen source for MS and lab fume hoods
We originally bought this generator as a factory-conditioned used unit to supply nitrogen to an Agilent LC-TOF. Over the years the load gradually increased to also support nearly 20 fume hoods and an Advion micro-MS. It is a PSA-type generator and was able to handle the extra load with no problem. We couldn't be happier with the purchase. We used to spend over $12k annually buying liquid nitrogen in 250L Dewars, and I need to swap the heavy Dewar once a week. Now we spend a tiny fraction of that, a mere few hundred dollars a year buying replacement air filters, that's it! We have had it for four years and everything is still going strong like Day One! It not only paid for itself over and over but also saved us great trouble compared with Dewars. The unit will stay off after a power glitch. Therefore it is important to buy a UPS for it (a $100 consumer-grade 300VA UPS will do) to avoid having to face a downed generator after a wind storm. The unit itself is very bulky and noisy ("breathing" between pressure swings), so a separate room will be preferred for installation. And most importantly, the unit requires a stable (and preferably clean) compressed air source (>=100 PSI) from the building.
