The Scorpion is Hudson’s stand-alone and compact automated liquid handler that most closely mimics manual pipetting workflows. The Scorpion can access 6 deck positions in a minimal footprint. The unique lightweight and durable delta arm design allows for an open workspace and highspeed movements. Optionally the enclosed workspace and airflow system allow for an inert atmosphere to be created so sensitive reagents can be used with confidence.
The open design of the Scorpion and the flexible and intuitive software allow the system to easily be configured for virtually any type of labware. The unique pipette design allows pipette tips to reach the bottom of 2 ml blocks as well as 15 ml and 50 ml tubes. Deep well blocks, standard 24, 48, 96 and 384 well plates, as well as tip racks and 585 sized accessories can be accommodated. Available pipette tips sizes include 20 µl, up to 5 ml volumes and can handle a wide range of viscosities. Liquid level sending allows the tip to follow liquid levels, improving aspirate and dispense accuracies.
The user-friendly software makes it simple to set up complex grids and titrations. Liquid transfers can be defined as volumes pH or concentrations, making titration quick and easy to execute. Intelligent dispense sequencing combined with highspeed motion minimizes experiment set up time. The system includes a protocol library and a hardware library, while adding hardware or protocols is a breeze with the intuitive software.
