CYTENA’s single-cell printer™ is a fully automated, benchtop-sized laboratory instrument that isolates single cells into standard microwell plate formats. The instrument uses an inkjet-like principle featuring a disposable, one-way printing cartridge that can hold up to 80 μL of cell sample.
The sample is pipetted into the cartridge and an external actuator ejects the droplets. The integrated optical sensor helps determine the number of cells in each droplet. A fast shutter mechanism sorts the droplets containing exactly one single-cell into the substrate, while unwanted droplets are deflected into waste.
Additionally, CYTENA’s single-cell printer uses intuitive and user-friendly software that can be easily operated by each lab member without special skills or extensive training. The instrument setup time is less than 10 minutes, and it takes only a few minutes to fill an entire 96-well plate with single cells.
