Ophthalmic dosage form development
Sodium chloride is used as an osmolality, tonicity adjusting agent used in formulation development of ophthalmic dosage form. 0.9% w/v solution of sodium chloride gives around 300 mOsmol/Kg osmolality. It has been used in many ophthalmic eye drop solutions and suspensions.
