Stabilwax® (Fused Silica)
General purpose columns for FAMEs, flavor compounds, essential oils, solvents, xylene isomers, and US EPA Method 603 (acrolein/acrylonitrile). Resistant to oxidative damage. Temperature range: 40°C to 260°C. Equivalent to USP G14, G15, G16, G20, and G39 phases. The polar-deactivated surface tightly binds the Carbowax® polymer and increases thermal stability, relative to competitive columns. The bonding mechanisms produce a col…
Environmental analysis
Great column for direct aqueous injection, fairly robust but does not hold up well when acidic or reactive samples are injected.

Food analysis and residual solvent analysis
When it comes to polar compound analysis on GC, as we all know there are a lot of troubles we face with the chemistry aspect. When you have Stabilwax inside your GC at least you are sure that there is no problem with the stationary phase and you are getting more than the required inert environment. It really lowers the burden of analysis. The phase is really robust and bonded in such a way that inertness remains even after a long time and after many injections. I have been using it for food sample analyses like inorganic bromide, inorganic iodide, safrole and residual solvent analysis. Also a great thing is that it is compatible with rapid changes in temperature and also can be utilised in high efficiency cooling GC Ovens. Other vendors' columns are not so robust in handling such rapid changes in temperatures. This clearly saves your time when you are running samples in overnight batches.

Solvent analysis
Stabilwax Cap. Column is a very stable column. Lower temperature solvent separates very well compared to 624 phase.

Composition of fatty acids in pharmaceutical oily excipients
Galephar QC laboratory uses the Stabilwax column for the GC determination of fatty acids in pharmaceucal oils (olive refined oil, peanut oil...) according to the European Pharmacopeia general chapter. This GC column offers excellent results in terms of selectivity and peak shape comparative to any other column of same type. Its excellent robustness is suitable for the challenging analysis of fatty acids.

Gas chromatography
Very easy to use for simultaneous detection of syngas, light hydrocarbons and CO2. Sometimes the nitrogen and oxygen peaks are merged. It is better to use oxygen free flue gases.

The polar-deactivated surface tightly binds the Carbowax® polymer and increases thermal stability, relative to competitive columns. The bonding mechanisms produce a column that can be rejuvenated by solvent washing. Compared to silicone stationary phases, PEG phases are more resistant to damage from strongly acidic or basic volatile compounds.
