Fully automated extraction of DNA & RNA from FFPE samples

The Siemens Tissue Preparation System has provided a means of processing up to 48 FFPE samples at a time in high-throughput workflow that is fully automated and Xylene-free. The TPS enables the option to isolate either DNA, RNA, or both from the same specimen in under 4hrs with a high degree of reproducibility between replicates both within and between runs. The resulting DNA is higher in molecular weight compared to other methods of isolation and more amplifiable, which suggests the TPS is largely effective in resolving cross-linking. Therefore, the higher quality DNA & RNA isolates are more amenable to downstream applications.

The Siemens Tissue Preparation Solution includes a Tissue Preparation System and the VERSANT® Tissue Preparation Reagents kit. Using magnetic particle-based isolation and proprietary bead technology, this solution provides a more efficient and reproducible process for the isolation of high-quality nucleic acids from formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) and fresh frozen (FF) tissue.
