Excellent for IHC!
Immunohistochemical staining
My lab rountinely uses Vector Laboratories' VECTASTAIN® ABC kits for our immmunohistochemical staining, which usually yield high quality staining and reproducible results. It is easy to use and after-sale service is excellent.

Immunohistochemistry with subsequent DAB Staining
Since 2 years we use it approx. weekly. In combination with a DAB staining; the Kit is pretty simple to use and guarantees a decent Immunohistochemical staining of BrdU labeled cells within rodent cryosections. Less unspecific/background staining. Packing is a bit too much and could be reduce, because it is not necessary with 3 small bottles (Laboratories produce already a plethora of thrash). One kit was malfunctioning and it took a long time until the support reacted, which is insufficient for the price in my opinion.

The high sensitivity reported for this technique likely resides in either the form or the number of active enzyme molecules associated with the complex and the rapid, irreversible interaction of the complex with biotinylated antibody. In addition to high sensitivity, VECTASTAIN® ABC kits produce very low background staining which is probably due to the high dilutions of primary antisera and other reagents employed in the method, the quality of our biotinylated secondary antibodies, and the specially prepared Avidin DH and biotinylated enzymes.
