Confocal Microscopy
I have never been happier since I have upgraded to 710 from LSM 510 (still a good microscope). The thing I love the most about 710 is the availability of UV laser, which gives me the capability to use DAPI, CO2 and temp control, which is great for live imaging and the external fine focus and field adjustor. Also, I am in love with the new Zen software, which is easy to use, rich in features and versatile. I highly recommend this system.

Cells And Tissue - Fluorescence Imaging
Imaging of live cells and tissues is extremely important for basic and translational research to understand complicated human cellular processes in real-time. A microscope for fluorescence/bioluminescence imaging is an excellent tool for imaging of live and fixed cells. The confocal microscope 710 from Carl Zeiss can be equipped with UV, argon, diode and HeNe lasers, as well as two-photon laser. Imaging of several dyes/fluorescent proteins can be performed simultaneously over the entire wavelength range. With the new Zen software and motorized XY stage the 710 is easy to use for any combination of z-series, time series, tiling, positions, bleaching, etc. Smart Setup option in Zen software made it easy to use the system by new users. Temperature, humidity and CO2 can be controlled with the help of an incubation chamber installed on the microscope, which make this system ideal for live cell imaging over time.

Imaging of neuronal tissue
The LSM 710 has a short learning curve, while being versatile in its uses. Getting the desired image is easy and quick. I would recommend it to others. The Zen software eases the understanding of the attached modules of lasers and cameras.
