Application Area:

Wastewater analysis. Phosphorus, Cr+6, CN, Phenols, Nitrates, COD and Method Development Scanning

The Jenway 7205 is a small but more than basic UV/Vis spectrophotometer. We purchased it as a backup for our larger full function spec but it almost gets used more than the unit costing 4 times the money. We can use it on most of our tests except chlorophylls (hard to get the 6 wavelength readings without the software). It uses a xenon flash and photometric array. It can distinguish well below 1 nm with no warmup or moving parts. It is easy to use with enough versatility for most labs. The scanning function is great and the graphs on the small screen are clear and easy to manipulate. It is perfect for quick readings and scans, especially when developing or checking methods. Two minor details: Data can only be transferred by the flash drive and there is a slight drift between repeat readings. Before starting your readings it helps to flash it a few times to sensitize the array.

The 72 series spectrophotometers are the first scanning spectrophotometers in the Jenway range to leverage diode array technology to produce exceptionally fast results. The range includes two models: model 7200 covers a wavelength range of 335 to 800nm with a spectral bandwidth of 7nm and model 7205 covers a wavelength range of 198 to 800nm with a spectral bandwidth of 5nm.

Both spectrophotometers are ideal for a variety of applications in education and routine testing in clinical, veterinary, pharmaceutical and QC laboratories.

The 72 series spectrophotometers offer measurement modes for single wavelength with basic absorbance and % transmittance; concentration calculated using a standard or a factor; optical density; quantitation with the ability to create a calibration curve using up to 6 standards and 3 replicates; full spectrum scanning and kinetics where up to 3 wavelengths can be measured simultaneously.

The colour touchscreen user interface provides fast and easy set up and navigation of the instrument. The 4" display allows full spectrum scans, quantitation curves and kinetics runs to be viewed easily. The touchscreen capability enables users to zoom in and out and select spectral analysis points all by simply tapping the screen.

The large sample chamber will easily accommodate the optional long path length cuvette holder and the heated 10x10mm cuvette holder which is ideal for thermostated measurements at 37°C. The sample chamber lid can also be left open during measurements which is ideal for samples in tall test tubes.

There are two USB ports for data storage and printer connectivity. The easy access USB port on the front of the instrument can be used to easily store results and quantitation curves.
