3D Spheroids for Cardiovascular Toxicity Testing in Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell–Derived Cardiomyocytes

28 Mar 2017

When developing cardiovascular drugs, it is important to test lead compounds against ion channel targets in the early stages of drug development to prevent failure at a later stage. This article proposes using a multiple-spheroids assay to test cardio toxicity on pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes. Carrying out the assay in an ElplasiaTM plate (SQ 200 200 NA 96) enables multiple data points to be obtained for each well, therefore the average of BPM and the frequency of occurring Early–After-Depolarization (EAD) can be calculated from a single well.
