Battery engineering and research is a rapidly expanding field. It is vital that we gain an understanding of the mechanistics involved, in order to investigate new electrode materials, tune electrolytes and optimize battery performance. Raman microspectroscopy offers a wide range of possibilities in the field of battery research for both ex- and in-situ measurements, particularly for the analysis of lithium-based batteries. It is also a non-destructive and non-invasive technique. Bruker Optics highlights three real-life examples of Raman microspectroscopy and its benefits to battery research, starting with an examination of carbon analysis in flexible electrodes.
