Researchers hold great promise for dendritic cells (DCs) in the development of cancer immunotherapies as well as the treatment of autoimmune diseases. Since DCs also play an essential role in the setting of HIV infection and the pathogenesis of several other viruses, they have significance as a therapeutical target.
