Investigating E. coli Adhesion, Colonization and Biofilm Formation

15 Oct 2012

In this application note the importance of physiological shear stress in E. coli adhesion, colonization and biofilm formation was investigated using the Cellix VenaFlux™ Platform. E. coli adhesion to mono- and tri-mannose surfaces and the motility of E. coli on these surfaces under increasing shear stress conditions is described. The results provide important insights into the mechanism by which bacterial infections spread.
