Optimizing Transfer of Non-Aqueous Liquids with Eppendorf Pipettes
15 Dec 2015This application note describes the potential problems encountered when using Eppendorf pipettes to transfer non-aqueous liquids and the solutions to overcome them. Factors such as viscosity, density and vapor pressure of the liquid being transferred can significantly affect the accuracy and precision of the pipette. Moreover, infectious or radioactive liquids, detergent containing liquids and foaming liquids all carry respective issues which can affect the reliability of the transfer, and so various techniques should be employed to optimize the performance of the pipette.
