Pesticide Analysis by GC/ECD/NPD & FID

29 May 2013

The US have strict regulations on the manufacture and use of pesticides, to eliminate the use of persistent chemicals like DDT and encourage the development of safe, target specific compounds. Due to this, a broad array of synthetic chemicals now exists in the environment. As a result, environmental analysis of pesticides involves separation of complex mixtures of compounds by metabolic by-products, the quantification these compounds in difficult matrices requires sophisticated and expensive gas chromatography techniques. This application note discusses Buck Scientific’s cost effective System P and the 910 gas chromatograph which can be used for accurate quantification and identification of virtually all common pesticides, herbicides, insecticides and PCB’s.
