Rapid Measurement of Alcohol (Ethanol) in Beer and Wine Making by GC/FID

3 Jan 2013

Improvements in manufacturing processes and equipment have allowed beer and wine producers to increase both the quantity and quality of the products. The quality and grade of which is based primarily on alcohol content, thus manufacturing plants require faster more sophisticated analytical techniques. This application note discusses the different methods for the determination of alcohol content. With a particular focus on gas chromatography (GC) and a general use flame ionization detector (FID). Using the Buck 910 GC/FID system permits a wide range of testing capabilities to be done economically and efficiently with just one system.
