Removing the Challenges of Aflatoxin Food Safety Testing by Implementing a Simple Sample Matrix Preparation

16 Jan 2015

Aflatoxin testing of consumer food products has become increasingly important as global food trade continues to rise, generating the need to identify levels of this mycotoxin quickly and accurately. Multiple AOAC methods exist for aflatoxinB1, B2, G1, G2 testing. Each method uses different sample preparation and analysis procedures for a variety of food products and matrices and creates a challenging environment for the typical food safety laboratory handling a diverse mix of food samples. In this poster, a common and more streamlined sample preparation method was developed to use as a simple roadmap for a wide range of food matrices.
