How a shift in focus to brain circuit activity research could offer better treatments for patients

In this video, Dr. Walter Koroshetz, Director of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), discusses the shift in neuroscience research from molecular to electrophysiological focus over the past few decades. He goes on to explain how this has impacted three major projects that are run by NINDS. These projects, ranging from vascular dementia research to searching for non-addictive opioids, aim to better understand brain activity and improve the care of patients with neurological disorders.
