Dr. George Yancopoulos, President and Chief Scientific Officer at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc., was invited to give a keynote address at MipTec 2012 due to the success of his work in the biotechnology industry. According to a study by the Institute for Scientific Information, he was the eleventh most highly cited scientist in the world during the 1990s, and the only scientist from the biotechnology industry on the list. In this video Dr. Yancopoulos tells SelectScience how he took Regeneron from a startup company and within twenty years built it into one of the top ten biotechnology companies in the world. Dr. Yancopoulos discusses various drugs that have been developed over the past few years at Regeneron to treat diseases such as AMD and colorectal cancer.
