Locating N-Glycans in FFPE Colon Cancer Tissue Sections Using MALDI Mass Spectrometry Imaging

Michael Batey, Senior Manager Business Development, Waters Corporation, presents his poster about the analysis of N-glycans by MALDI (Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization) mass spectrometry imaging of formalin fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) tissue from colon cancer specimens, at AACR 2017. Michael describes how mass spectrometry imaging can allow researchers to assess the location of glycans in the cancer tissue, giving further insights into spatial distribution of glycosylated proteins in the tumor. Michael goes onto explain how this method can locate tumors within the tissue section in a non-subjective manner and its application in cancer biology research.
