Methods to Study Circular DNA in Human Cells and Tissues

At the Society of Neuroscience Annual Meeting 2012 in New Orleans SelectScience met up with Dr. Jeorg Leheste from the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine of New York Institute of Technology to find out more about his work investigating the molecular mechanisms of ribosomal DNA circles. The exponential accumulation of rDNA circles in yeast with each cell division is an established mechanism for controlling fecundity and replicative lifespan. In this video Dr. Leheste discusses how his laboratory have developed and tested new molecular tools to determine if health and/or lifespan may be controlled in similar ways in human cells and tissues. Interview filmed at Neuroscience 2012 by SelectScience.
