Bio-Rad and Infometrix to Offer Analytical Informatics and Chemometrics Platform
6 Apr 2006Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. (AMEX: BIO and BIOb) today announced plans to integrate Infometrix' Pirouette® chemometrics technology for multivariate analysis into their award-winning KnowItAll® Informatics System.
The integration of the two products will offer a wide array of solutions to better analyze large collections of spectral, chromatographic, chemical and biological data.
"Bio-Rad is extremely proud to partner with Infometrix, an industry leader in chemometrics and biometrics software applications," said Gregory M. Banik, Ph.D., Bio-Rad's Informatics Division General Manager. "We look forward to continued work with Infometrix in expanding the data mining and chemometric techniques even further."
Bio-Rad's KnowItAll® Informatics System offers a fully integrated environment with flexible, expandable software and database solutions for spectroscopy, cheminformatics, in silico ADME/Tox prediction and lead optimization. The addition of Pirouette® technology will dramatically expand the solutions available in the KnowItAll® platform, offering an integrated cheminformatics, chemometrics and analytical informatics environment. The new platform will offer customers the ability to process, store, search, visualize and perform multivariate analyses as well as report spectral and chromatographic data in a seamless, intuitive and scalable informatics environment.
Initially, the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) capability of Pirouette® technology will be integrated within the KnowItAll® Informatics System. The new application called AnalyzeIt™ MVP will allow multivariate processing of spectral and chromatographic information in a simple yet powerful way, allowing users to explore complex data relationships by looking for similarities and differences in the data set as a whole. Using the Pirouette® algorithms in AnalyzeIt™ MVP application, one will be able to simplify complex relationships between samples and then visualize the simplified relationships and associated data with the unique comparative visualization tools for spectral, chromatographic, chemical and alphanumeric information in KnowItAll® platform. For example, when used in conjunction with hit lists from spectral database searches, one will be able to use the technologies to group and visualize the spectra and query from the hit list in a graphical, rather than a traditional tabular fashion, allowing for clearer and more powerful insights.
"The elegance and power of Infometrix' Pirouette® chemometrics software is a perfect fit with the easy-to-use cheminformatics and comparative visualization tools in Bio-Rad's KnowItAll® Informatics System," said Brian Rohrback, Ph.D., President of Infometrix. "The result is a system for multivariate processing that offers cutting edge technology for experienced chemometricians, and provides chemists an intelligent, advanced and user friendly software environment for the analysis of their spectroscopic, chromatographic or numeric data. We are pleased to partner with Bio-Rad to offer such an expansive solution set to the scientific community."
Capabilities of AnalyzeIt™ MVP application include:
- Solutions for a wide range of research and manufacturing applications in a variety of industries including food and beverage, chemical, pharmaceutical, environmental and petrochemical.
- Offering expert (and non-expert) users an elegant, intuitive, powerful and easy-to-use informatics environment for multivariate processing.
- Providing insight into hidden patterns and relationships in chemical and biological data.
- Enabling users the ability to exploit these correlations to answer critical research, development or production questions.
- Facilitating the storage of analysis results for subsequent reference, reporting or investigation.
