Johnson Controls, a global multi-industrial company with established core businesses in the automotive, building and energy storage industries, today launched its enhanced Integrated Laboratory Services offering for the Life Sciences market at Pittcon 2014.

The new Integrated Laboratory Services (ILS) includes a range of specialist solutions to help customers drive operational and financial efficiencies and manage risk within their mission-critical R&D, manufacturing, data center, HQ and warehousing facilities; helping to ensure effective and compliant operations for many of the world’s leading pharmaceutical, biopharm and medical device companies, both large and small.

An innovative scientific asset visualization tool

Johnson Controls Global WorkPlace Solutions (GWS) is currently responsible for delivering IFM & Lab Services and supporting quality and compliance for circa 100 million square feet of Life Sciences facilities globally, with some 40% of those facilities being regulated space. The company aims to provide best-in-class Laboratory Services that leverage technology and Life Cycle Asset Management (LCAM) principles. The Life Sciences team has used its understanding of R&D laboratory environments to develop an innovative scientific asset visualization tool. This reporting and analytics tool enables data-driven decisions and delivers optimized lab functions through dashboards and reports; interpreting various data sources and utilizing its global data warehouse for Integrated Laboratory Services. This approach enables Johnson Controls to help their customers to look at data in a new way; helping them to make more informed, and ultimately better business decisions around their laboratory operations and assets.

A comprehensive suite of services

“Johnson Controls delivers global Integrated Lab Services on behalf of our customers, providing a comprehensive suite of services including; basic lab support, technical lab services and Laboratory Instrument Services as one integrated holistic solution,” commented Dr. Javier Morell, global director of Pharma Services, Johnson Controls, Global WorkPlace Solutions.

Optimize the entire laboratory environment

Johnson Controls focuses its work beyond the instruments; looking to optimize the entire laboratory environment, to drive efficiencies, improve productivity, reduce costs and help customers gain a greater understanding of the total cost of ownership for their laboratory facilities and the assets contained within.

Morell concludes: “As part of this evolution of scientific services, we will work to support research & development value streams in areas of scientific research. These scalable services enable Johnson Controls to deliver further innovations and efficiencies related to; asset utilization, visualization, redeployment, materials management, OEM services and resourcing.”
