Good automated RPR system. But, perhaps get two - one for screens and one for titers.
Automated RPR
AIX is a good system for automated RPRs, producing quality results in a small footprint. However, technologists prefer to do RPRs manually due to the lengthy set up time on the AIX, especially when switching between screens and titers. Perhaps it would be better to have two systems - one set up for screens and the other for titers.

Automated RPR
If you were looking for automated RPR testing, the AIX fits the bill. It will save money over switching to the reverse testing algorithm (Trep IA reflexed to RPR). But, you’re really not going to save that much in technologist time over doing manual RPRs with experienced staff. The AIX set up for a run is fairly lengthy, and there’s additional set up time to do titers. The technologists here don’t care for it and would rather do manual RPRs because of this. (They are experienced and pretty fast, though.) On the plus side, interpretation is objective, not subjective. But, there are a fair number that it calls positive that really are not, requirung repeat testing for resolution. Service by this company is always stellar! No question, I would do business with them again. Bottom line? Whether or not you would like this product is totally dependent upon what you are looking to gain. With changes to reimbursement and multiple Trep IAs available, I’d probably chose the reverse testing algorithm.
