Electroanalyses
Very good equipment. Great capabilities, particularly due to the two modules installed (eds and bipod). Software is less to desire, crashing constantly, this point should be addressed.

Battery electrochemistry
The Metrohm Autolab 128 N is a potentiostat that I have used for the last 5 years to develop different electrochemical processes ranging from analyte detection to redox flow batteries. The 128 N is a one stop shop for even an advanced electrochemist and for a fraction of cost of similar devices at that level. The device by itself provides a huge range of experiments ranging from fast analysis to bulk processing. The Nova interface is super stable, quick and interactive thus making the user experience so much easier to learn compared to contemporary platforms. However, the best aspect here is device modularity. At one point I realized that I need to include impedance techniques into my research and Metrohm had a simple solution of integrating a FRA32M module which now enables my device to perform Impedance spectroscopy. This modularity enables a user to effectively build-up the electrochemical test station as the research progresses and thereby demands different requirements at different levels. Since then, I have added multiple modules to enable the device to do more at each step which has proven to be much more convenient and cost-effective than buying a very high-end, high-cost device at the get-go (most of the functions of which one might not end up using). Having the experience of using potentiostats and analysers from all the top suppliers in the market, I feel that the Autolab is the most reliable, flexible and high-performing device for the price range and even higher. I have not required any form of servicing related to repair, however, the servicing regarding to the device enhancement using the modules followed by the regular check and maintenance has been extraordinary. I'd recommend this device and related Metrohm accessories any day to an electrochemist who wants to have that added technical edge to her or his research and development.
