It is a unique hybrid instrument employing each of the following Ion Trap delivering True MSn for structural studies, Matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization and also Reflectron time of flight (TOF) mass analyzer for accurate mass. The AXIMA-QIT™ is designed for the structural characterization of biomolecules. The power of MS and accuracy and resolution of TOF for the next generation of structural analysis problems. It can be used to determine posttranslational modifications proteoglycans, carbohydrates, protein sequences, and phosphorylation sites.

Mycobacterial glycolipid analysis
For structural elucidation, the MSn capabilities due to the original analyzer geometry, provided well resolved and reproducible results. Those were published in a scientific journal describing a new fragmentation mechanism. Unfortunately, service maintenance in France for this equipment is not efficient because too few instruments are installed. So reliability has to be improved: we get pressure chamber plate issues that maybe can be fixed with a new plate model. I did not evaluate quantification and/or calibration for this model. Finally, I managed to use the software without any training so it seems user friendly.
