AxyPrep™ Plasmid Maxiprep Kit

This kit is based upon a modified SDS-alkaline lysis of bacterial cells in combination with lysate filtration and selective binding of the plasmid DNA to special AxyPrep purification columns. The yield of plasmid for kit is up to 500 mg respectively. This kit can also be used to isolate large constructs, such as BAC, PAC and P1. The protocols provide a simple, rapid and efficient method for the isolation of highly purified p…

Application Area:

Isolation of shRNA

This product was fairly simple to use with clear and easy to follow instructions which resulted in good yields. Also, I found the vacuum method was simple and easy to perform compared to other methods for maxipreps.

Application Area:

Isolation of shRNA from plasmids

This product was fairly simple to use, and the instructions were detailed and informative. However, they stopped after DNA elution, so another protocol must be used to complete the DNA isolation. The product resulted in a fairly decent concentration of DNA/RNA, although I've gotten it higher before.

The protocols provide a simple, rapid and efficient method for the isolation of highly purified plasmid DNA. The entire preparation process can be completed in 45 minutes for the Maxiprep. Plasmid prepared by this method can be used immediately for many routine applications requiring highly purified plasmid DNA, such as, DNA sequencing, restriction digestion, in vitro transcription, library screening, ligation and bacterial transformation.
