Western Blot
We have been working with an Azure 280 imaging system (AI280) from Azure biosystems for one full year, and we cannot be more pleased with this instrument. As a low-cost and high-performance imaging system, Azure 280 was the right instrument for us. It is very easy to use and has identical capabilities to the more costly Azure 300 with the only exception that it is not upgradeable. We use the instrument almost on a daily basis, and with one year in, the instrument is performing as if it were brand new. I highly recommend it!

Western blots, gel imaging
We have Azure 280 imager, it's the first product we bought from Azure and are very happy with it. It looks great, easy setup and very user friendly. We use it mostly for western blots and gel imaging.

Western Blot
One year ago (August 2021), we purchased an Azure 280 imaging system (AZI280) from Azure biosystems. We wanted a low-cost yet high-performance and quantitative Western Blot imaging system, and Azure 280 was exactly what we needed. The Azure 280 is easy to use and has identical capabilities to the Azure 300, but it is just not upgradeable. However, we were offered the option to upgrade in the future (if we wanted to) by trade-in. Nathan Hemendinger, the director of Eastern North America at Azure Biosystems was courteous and very accommodating. He even offered us a free one-year extended warranty.

Chemiluminescence and fluorescence imaging
I love our Azure 600 imager. The chemiluminescence and fluorescence image capture functionalities are awesome! The software allows merging of the two images. Additionally, I can independently adjust the contrast of the chemi and fluorescence images using the same software. Lastly, I love the fact the printout of the images captured are exact size of the original samples.

Image protein gels
Before getting this imager, we used an older model without luminescence capability. I really like that this imager was affordable, easy to use, had an easy set up, and was able to image the gels that my team and I needed.

DNA gels
I am used to working on BioRad systems. Azure 280 is easier to use and, for DNA gels, gives much clearer pictures. When we had technical difficulties, the manual clearly spelled out how to address them. The system is very compact. It takes up a tiny amount of bench space compared to any other imager I have used. If you can come up with 40cm x 40cm, you can fit this machine. The only problem I have had so far is it only has 2 USB ports, meaning I can only connect two of three of a mouse, keyboard and flash drive. However, this is not a large issue for me.

Western Blot
We have the Azure Biosystems c300 in our lab for wester blot imaging. This system is incredibly easy to use with the option to upgrade. The quality of this product is outstanding. In addition, the sales team's service is far beyond their competitor's. We've had this system for 3+ years and will never use another. The value of this product exceeds its price.

The Azure Biosystems cSeries offers 6 unique gel imaging systems.
Available Systems:
- c600 - Ultimate Western Blot Imaging System.
Your Western blot method shouldn’t be limited by your imaging system. Fluorescent detection offers excellent quantitation and mutiplex capability. Chemiluminescent detection delivers ultimate sensitivity for low abundance proteins. The c600 offers both. Azure Biosystems doesn't restrict your choice of reagents, either. There are no proprietary stains or dyes. All you get is the freedom to capture data any way you want.
- c500 - Infrared Western Blot Imaging System.
The c500 combines fluorescent detection for multiplex capability with chemiluminescent detection for the sensitivity of film without the darkroom. IR detection reduces background noise for sensitive detection of low abundance proteins. Place your sample in the system and capture an image with a click of a button. Never make multiple exposures on film to get the best image again. Want to detect 3 proteins at once? The Azure c500 can be upgraded in the field by adding 3-channel visible fluorescent detection for Cy2/Cy3/Cy5 multi-protein capability.
- c400 - Visible Fluorescent Western Blot Imaging System.
The Azure c400 imaging system offers three-channel RGB excitation for Cy5/Cy3/CY2 fluorescent Western blot applications. Image single protein assays quickly on the same system with sensitive chemiluminescent detection. Forget the hassles of film and darkroom chemicals – just place your sample in the system and capture an image with the click of a button.
- c300 - Chemiluminescent Western Blot Imaging System.
Digital chemiluminescent detection offers sensitivity equal to film, without all the hassles. Place your sample in the system and capture your Western blot image with the click of a button.
- c200 - Gel Imaging Workstation.
Use your choice of dyes or stains and the system automatically selects the light source and filters for you. UV for Ethidium bromide-stained DNA gels, blue light for SYBR®Safe or similar dyes, white light for Silver stain or Coumassie Blue.
- c150 - Gel documentation system.
A basic gel documentation system for cost-conscious laboratories. Use your choice of dyes or stains and the system automatically selects the light source and filters for you. UV for Ethidium bromide-stained DNA gels, blue light for SYBR® Safe or similar dyes, white light for Silver stain or Coumassie Blue.
cSeries Features:
- 8.3 Megapixel camera - Publication quality images are at your fingertips. High resolution over the entire field of view lets you clearly resolve closely spaced bands.
- Greater bit depth - 16 bit vs. 12 bit collects more signal before reaching saturation. This increases the dynamic range and, as a result, allows greater quantitative accuracy (red).
- Deep Peltier Cooling - Lower camera temperature (-50 degrees C from ambient) reduces electronic noise. With less background noise, you can take advantage of longer exposure to detect low abundance proteins.
- Intellicapture Technology - Capture more blot images in the same amount of time. A faster, wide aperture, f 0.95 lens allows shorter exposures. cSeries imagers are automatically focused dependent on sample position. Regardless of the size of your gel, all images are in focus with no adjustment required. Users can start gathering data quickly.
- Binning - Need more sensitivity? You can trade unneeded resolution for speed and sensitivity. Binning combines multiple pixels into larger superpixels, so images can be acquired faster, or low abundance proteins detected more quickly when resolution isn’t a concern.
- Automatic Imaging - Select the application, and the system chooses the light sources and filters for you. The motorized, automated filter wheel has 7 filter positions (c200-600) to match fluorophore and dye emissions. Don’t worry about positioning. Images and analysis aren’t dependent on where you place the gel or blot.
- UV Transilluminator - Dual wavelength (302nm/365nm) transilluminator enables imaging of a wide range of DNA and protein gel dyes. The 15X20 cm transilluminator allows imaging of large gels.
- Integrated tablet - The compact design saves valuable bench space. Image capture is controlled from the tablet, compatible with existing networks. 2GB for short term data storage.
- 2-Position Shelf - The auto-detect shelf raises chemiluminescent samples close to camera to increase resolution. Focusing is handled automatically by the image capture software.
- Integrated Blue LEDs - No need to purchase a separate blue light transilluminator. Image nucleic acids with "Safe" Dyes in the same system as your blots.
