Not as good as the competition.

Application Area:

Cell counting

I have used several large automated trypan-blue based cell counters and viability checkers. The Cedex HiRes is one of the slowest, and has poor software recognition of dead cells. I would not purchase this machine again.

It's a very efficient equipment to use. You can automate sample analysis. We had issues using it as this version uses another method for measurement than previous one. Here, there are more photos with higher resolution taken. This was/is not explained when you buy a 50k Euro equipment. That's why it made us to spend huge amount of time to do the validation & we were never successful. It's relatively easy to use & after sale care is good. But there is not enough information about the equipment details.

Application Area:

Cell culture count

It is not strange to hear that it’s expensive equipment. It generates great results. However, it’s expensive to maintain it. It has also a special way of counting & taking photographs. This means that for tech transfer purposes you will have serious issues if you don't have Cedex HiRes on the receiving side. It is effective, quick and automated. But expensive to maintain.

cell culture, tissue homogenates

Pros: Complete walk-away processing of 20 samples via the auto sampler. No manual trypan mixing so no pipetting variability. Very accurate and reproducible. Full images for review. Size and viability calculations. GLP ready. Cons: Takes four minutes per sample. Expensive.
