DNAQual Kit

DNAQual kit is used for the quantitative assessment of DNA degradation by quantifying the number of copies of a target gene compared to a calibrator gene (included in the kit) in any human DNA sample by qPCR in duplex in 90 minutes.

The two genes (target and calibrator are measured with two specific probes carrying each a different fluorophore: Texas Red for the calibrator and VIC for the target gene. The software on the qPCR instrument calculates the ratio of fluorescence of the target gene over the calibrator using the ΔΔCt method. A relationship between DNAQual value and the average size of DNA fragments present in the sample is established and results are displayed automatically by histograms.

In each sample, a mixture of different sizes of DNA fragments is present. The distribution of theses sizes for a given value of DNAQual is presented in a table provided with the kit.

DNAQual is very sensitive and requires as little as 5ng/well of DNA and a maximum of 300ng/well of DNA, thus maximize the use of precious specimen.
