Analyze proteins on the basis of isoelectric focusing
Focus gels film backed polyacrylamide gels makes the handling quite easy. The precast gels have dedicated sample loading slots and are perfect for horizontal isoelectric focusing of protein samples in instruments like Blue Horizon. Everything is perfectly designed - best part is getting such large thin gels due to film backing support that are not delicate or susceptible to breaking easily. The protein is separated at high resolution can be easily stained and stored for further analysis and imaging. Working with these gels is fun, just remove cover film. Soak in rehydration buffer for 2h and place on platform. Put sample as per protocols permits and just connect to electrodes and wait for the best results. Once gel runtime is completed fix with TCA, stain and store.

0.65 mm thick precast polyacrylamide gel, bound to GEL-FIX™ support film for isoelectric focusing. The gels are non-toxic, because catalysts and other non-polymerized substances like acrylamide monomers are removed from the matrix. They contain a special SERVALYT™ cocktail designed to achieve an optimal pH gradient. Electrode solutions and electrode strips are not required, the electrodes are placed directly on the gel surface. Samples are applied to the gel using applicator strips.
