performing types and screens
Overall instrument is very effective with the amount of samples we run here at our lab. A few problems we see is that the strips are not being read all the time when put on the instrument. Either have to put new ones on or wipe off ones using. Camera seems to be a very sensitive when reading wells.

transfusion medicine
Easy to use, but do miss the better detailed antigrams. Immucor doesn't titrate antigen strength when creating their panels. Changes the thought process when doing eliminations. Otherwise, ECHO is a good instrument. Great for small through-put labs, definitely a "walk away" instrument.

Analyze blood group and screen
The instrument gave lots of equivocal results and when repeated using another technology gave a negative results. When having equivocal results it cost money and technologist time.

blood group typing and antibody screens
At our facility the Galileo ECHO does not automatically connect with the laboratory system, so first we must enter the patient information manually which can be time consuming and prone to error during busy times. I am thankful that the system prompts you to enter the information twice in order to try and reduce clerical error. Overall, I really like using the Galileo ECHO analyzer, we use the analyzer to do routine blood group good typing, although our current policy took out the use of week D testing. We also use the analyzer for antibody screening, and identification. I like that we can use additional select cells, since this adds to cells that can be used to rule out antibodies before the need to manually use select cells. And definitely decreases the amount of time to identify complex antibodies.

This is a very reliable machine that I saw in our clinical rotation site in MD Anderson. However, I still dedicate personnel to stand by in case of any artefact blocking the photo-taking beam. The user interface is self-explanatory. I would definitely recommend using this machine anyway.

Blood Bank
The antibody ID is too sensitive and there are interface issues with the software.
