Easy to use but not completely satisfied with product
Total RNA Extraction from mammalian tissue
The product is easy to use. However I doubt the quality of the column used in the extraction process. The column with the red rings are meant to retain RNA while the rest of the filtrate flows through. This should be achieved during a centrifugation step. However once the sample containing RNA is added to the column the filtrate leaks through even before centrifugation is carried out. Hence I am unsure of the quality of the column used. I have witnessed this a number of times and I believe this has affected the RNA quality I obtain at the end.

The purified RNA is ready for reverse transcription and PCR, labeling and microarray analysis, and other common applications. Note that RNA shorter than 200 nucleotides in length, such as tRNA, 5S rRNA, and 5.8S rRNA, is not recovered efficiently under the conditions used with this kit.
