Microarraying
Vital consumable necessary for creating microarrays. Many different sizes to choose from to create the needed size of a spot on a microscope slide, inside a well of a 96-well plate, or on Nitrocellulose. Works great for both nucleic acid and protein spotting and normally lasts for long time. Works with most microarrayers from many different manufacturers including OmniGrid Accent, Quarray, MicroGrid II, BioOdyssey etc. Attention: pins can be easy bent/broken when they hit target too hard (as a result of customer's error in calibration or in a test run). Big disadvantage: unfortunately, the manufacturer of the pins practically never supplies the ordered pins in timely manner. Backlog of several months is quite regular. Recommendations: 1) if you plan to order the pins from the company, get these in sufficient excess not to be at the company' mercy next time when you have exhausted all your previous pins; 2) remember that the pins can be cleaned up with simple sonication procedure; 3) if backlog is too long, consider switching to a different supplier for similar pins (for example, Telechem and Digilab Inc. offer pins for microspotting).
