Good first choice screening column.
API analysis in formulations
Very reproducible results. For simple applications looking for a one peak of API, very good. They last long time. Not too good for high pH mobile phase, but Agilent has some substituted columns, which work fine with high pH.

HILIC-Z without sharkfin-shaped peaks.
HILIC-Z
HILIC is not so easy to use as C18. The water layer has a lot of influence on a good separation and peak shape. In our facility we measure a lot of samples but they are never the same, so we often use generic methods and almost always with a gradient. These circumstances seldom gave good results on our previous HILIC columns (most of them were diol types), until we got the HILIC-Z column. Chromatography was easy, peak shapes were good (no sharkfin-shape!). Now we use the column in our walk-in facility, were chemist put in their own sample and use them often with nice results.

Analyze vitamins in mineral premixes and water soluble powders
Very good and clean separation of components, high theoretical plate count and easy to clean up. My only concern is pressures are up to 180 to 250 bar, which is almost or more than the capacity of our maximum pump pressure tolerance.
