ROTI®GelStain, 1 ml, 1 x 1 ml
The ROTI ® GelStain dyes are used as additives to the gel solution and the running buffer, partly also post-run staining is possible. Both ROTI ® GelStain dyes can be excited by UV light, additionally, ROTI ® GelStain Red may be excited by blue light. Resulting signals may be detected by ethidium bromide broadband photo filters.

Nucleic acid gel stain
This stain is easy to use, however, there are 2 drawbacks: First, the gel stain runs out of the gel during electrophoresis, so you need to add it to the buffer, but even then, longer electrophoresis, which you might want to do for good separation, barely lets you see the DNA. Second, I tried an aliquot of this stain from a different lab and it worked fine, the ladder looks good. When we bought exactly the same stain and did electrophoresis under exactly the same conditions, the ladder looks awfully distorted. Stain from the other lab again works nicely. Overall, I tested 3 different vials, one works, two do not. I've had enough of it and will switch to a post-run stain.
