Cryopreserved HepaRG™ Cells: An Alternative In Vitro Screening Tool for Human Hepatic Drug Metabolism, Induction of Metabolism and Safety Applications

This application note demonstrates that HepaRG™ Cells, a hepatocyte-like cell line derived from a differentiated human hepatoma, are metabolically competent and maintain functional xenobiotic sensing pathways similar to those exhibited in primary human hepatocyte cultures. This includes pathways known to play important roles in liver injury as a result of drug exposure and are necessary to evaluate a new chemical entities drug-drug interaction and/or hepatotoxicity potential.
