The 2019 Digital Marketing & Communications Awards celebrate scientific and technological excellence

This year at Neuroscience 2019, SelectScience® recognizes scientific, technological and communication excellence with dedicated awards

Scientists and the key technologies advancing their research were celebrated at a glitzy awards ceremony held during Neuroscience 2019 in Chicago this week.

The latest in The Scientists’ Choice Awards series, the Digital Marketing & Communications Awards recognize the most engaging, inspiring and innovative content in the field.

Science industry leaders joined online publisher SelectScience® at a special Neuroscience 2019 Awards Champagne Reception, where they also celebrated the Seals of Quality program, designed to further help scientists worldwide choose the best laboratory products to accelerate their work.

Celebrating creativity and effective communication: Meet this year’s winners

Best in Digital Communication Awards were awarded to four overall winners for the following interviews that showcase the work of scientists in the field:

An insightful interview with Dr. John Connolly, CSO of Tessa Therapeutics, exploring next-generation immunotherapy and its application in targeting pediatric high-grade gliomas with the help of ACEA Biosciences’ xCELLigence® Real-Time Cell Analysis Technology.

An article discussing the use of RNAscope technology by Advanced Cell Diagnostics, to research microglia and brain disease, with Dr. Timothy Hammond, Boston Children’s Hospital – ‘The Good, the Bad and the Good that Turns Bad.

A fascinating Scientists’ Channel® interview with Dr. Aleksandra Dukic, postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Cancer Research, Oslo University Hospital, on novel targets to inhibit Glioblastoma invasion. The video highlights the importance of NuAire, Inc’s cell culture equipment for analysis of patient-derived cells. On winning the award Dukic commented, "It has been great experience to take part in the video interview and moreover exciting to hear that my Scientists' Channel interview won an award. I'm happy to know that my video was very popular."

And, a video workshop on new methods for culturing viable adult cortical neurons, from Dr. Erna A. van Niekerk, University of California San Diego (UCSD), featuring technology from Miltenyi Biotec.

Best in Digital Marketing Awards celebrated effective communications and were presented to the following winners:

Luminex Corporation for their social media parody video, Multiplex Star.

Bertin Instruments for the application eBook, ‘Essential Guide to Quality Control in Cell-Based Assays.’

BMG LABTECH for its application note describing a novel aggregation-specific fluorescent probe for monitoring prefibrillar protein aggregation.

Sartorius Group’s expert webinar: ‘A Neuroscientist’s Guide to Live-Cell Analysis: Techniques & Benefits.’

BioTek Instruments, Inc for the application eBook, ‘Long-Term 3D Spheroid Culture & Analysis - An Essential Guide.’

The lab equipment scientists love the most

At the party, the latest winner of a coveted Gold SelectScience Seal of Quality was announced as the Logos BiosystemsLUNA™ Family of Automated Cell Counters.

Zymo Research also received a special customer engagement award in celebration of receiving Seals of Quality for five of its DNA/RNA purification kits.

Seals of Quality recognize the top 0.1% of laboratory products that consistently receive the highest customer review ratings and are designed to enable scientists to see at a glance the instruments and services their peers love the most. There are four levels: Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze. SelectScience has now awarded Seals of Quality to a total of 49 lab products from across the scientific spectrum.
