DNA sequencing and fragment analysis
We have been using the ABI 3130xl for almost 10 years. Mostly for DNA Sanger sequencing and fragment analysis for STR-based genotyping. DNA sequencing we have been getting reads of good quality from 600- 800 bp depending on the capillary we use. We use the ABI Big Dye terminator sequencing kit and Xterminator for cleanup. One full 96 well plate sequencing takes around 10-12 hrs The Thermo technical support here in UAE through M/s IGBI has been great so far.

Very easy to use and easy to understand. Maintenance is minimal. Service is adequate and helpful. Only problem is it will be phased out
