Quantifying catecholamines in plasma.
We analyze a number of small biological chemicals in our research. Among these are epinephrine and norepinephrine which is analyzed by HPLC with electrochemical detection being the best for our budget. The electrochemical detector that we had was no longer supported and was somewhat troublesome to take care of, so I started looking at alternatives. At first, I was concerned that the price of a new one would be prohibitive, but the Decade Lite from Antec seemed reasonable and will work with a number of HPLC/UHPLC manufacturers. The installation was done with help from an engineer in the Netherlands which seems like it could be a problem, but worked out pretty well. We had a number of issues with getting the proper license for our instrument and some communication issues on our end, but they were very patient and helpful in working through each of those problems. Installation and training were good and all interactions with Antec have been top notch.

In the DECADE Elite the column and the flow cell are both held at a very accurate and stable temperature. Stable working conditions are a prerequisite for trace analysis and detection sensitivity. In addition, the DECADE Elite has ADF (advanced digital filter) which has been specially developed for ECD to improve signal-to-noise ratio up to a factor 200.
The DECADE Elite electrochemical detector is ready to work with any HPLC and UHPLC system on the market. With a ‘high frequency’ data rate it can handle the fast eluting peaks often encountered in UHPLC. With Antec’s proprietary small volume SenCell™ it is compatible with capillary and nano-LC as well. The DECADE Elite with its dedicated flow cells is by far the most sensitive electrochemical detector by today’s standards.
