The FastGene Blue/Green LED GelPic System is the most compact gel documentation system on the market. Ideally suited for tight spaces on a bench-top, the system can both illuminate and image your gels and blots. The Blue/Green GelPic comes equipped with three different illumination modes, so that you can be prepared for every kind of imaging.
The first is an array of blue/green LEDs (515 nm) situated around the periphery of the glass platen, providing excitation light for both red- and green–emitting fluorescence dyes. Older, plain blue LED illuminators don’t work with EtBr—the GelPic does. This optimal “transillumination” configuration also minimizes ambient background for the most sensitive imaging with non-carcinogenic modern dyes like Midori Green or SybrGreen. The aquamarine illumination is also safer than traditional UV—for you and for your DNA.
The second illumination mode utilizes an innovative white LED array, shining uniform backlight for transparent media such as Coomassie-stained protein polyacrylamide gels. This diffuser technology eliminates “hot spots” due to point illumination, and provides maximum clarity for colorimetric-stained gels.
The last mode uses white LED epi-illumination for lighting directly onto opaque surfaces such as Western blots and other highly reflective materials. And no matter the illumination mode, the Blue/Green GelPic system captures crystal-clear images with a high-end, scientific grade, 9 mega-pixel CMOS camera for maximum separation of color and resolution of bands. You can also save these images to an SD card, or attach the optional Mitsubishi black and white thermo printer directly to the system for quick print-outs. Save or print every image right at your bench! Imaging gels just doesn’t get easier than the GelPic.
