It's an okay product, but far worse than similar machines on the market
qPCR Amplification of Bacterial/Microbial DNA
I think the product is relatively easy to use, but compared to its competitor (Biorad CFX 96), the interface to change the thermal cycling conditions is much harder to work with, and their proprietary software for analysis makes it extremely difficult to get the raw data (whereas the CFX96 outputs csv files). Also, the front loaded 96 well plate holder has given us issues using 8 strip tubes before since they can fall out and get stuck, and the top of the heating element gets so hot that it consistently melts our 8 strip tubes and has melted some of the plastic plate coverings before. And then if you need it calibrated then a tech needs to come out to do it for you instead of giving you the option to calibrate it yourself

Extremely user-friendly qPCR machine

ABI QuantStudio 3 is amazing - it's really easy to use, the interface is extremely user-friendly and intuitive. The results are accurate and the cherry on the cake is that you can use multiplexing (even though this particular machine supports only up to 3 multiplex probes, it's still enough for our applications). Tech support also went above and beyond helping me to design multiplexing experiments. Very satisfied!

Best one out there, considering.

Overall, great machine. Works well for our 96well format. Unfortunately, we have had it broken and fixed twice in the last two years - something with the touchscreen/general interface not working. Anything that needs to be fixed with this machine is very expensive - they basically make you purchase an assurance plan to cover the cost, then extra for any parts (sometimes) and they only last 1 year. We bought this machine to replace the Bio-Rad system we had that had similar repair issues. But even considering this, it still feels like the best option out there for us. And the service and repair team is great! Respond very fast and always end up giving us discounts or helping us out in some way!

Good sensitivity and accuracy.
Real time gene expression analysis
This instrument is user-friendly with a high level of accuracy and precision of results. It is compatible with other brands' reagents (I experienced this, that's why I can say it!). Every high-end instrument needs maintenance. Researchers working in the field of molecular biology are very familiar with it. The only thing which needs taking care of, is its consumable requirement. It suits a specific type of reaction strip. As a user I'm very satisfied with the instrument!
