Application Area:

Analyzing bacterial proteins glycan content

Dionex 5000 is a great instrument for rapid analysis of glycans. I receive many reproducible results from my study. From a user perspective, I would say it is easy to implement a method and run sequences one by one with the Chromeleon 7 software. The downside of the instrument is that you can only run up to roughly 80 samples (2 sequences) in a row because of the limit of buffer containers. In the beginning, I had a lot of trouble-shootings. I would appreciate a trouble-shooting guidance book. Overall, I am a happy customer and highly recommend pre-training from Thermo prior to use.

I have been the primary operator for over 3 years and have found the overall unit exceptional. The user program has a simple interface "Chameleon" that is easy for new staff to learn. It has been an extremely reliable machine with a dependable output of results and great service staff. We are currently expanding our scope on analysis with the machine to include anions, oxyhalides, and VFAs.

Great unit used for amines and light organic acid analysis. The unit has an eluent generator which makes it very easy to use.

Product is good, but has a fault when it gets corroded inside. The fan inside the instrument is not strong enough to keep it dry. Humidity is killing the machine inside.

The Dionex ICS-5000+ HPIC system is very useful in analyzing ions in many different matrices. Dual pump, dual injectors and dual detector capabilities of this HPIC model literally doubles up the system and we can have the flexibility of multiple analytical results achieved from a single system.
